As pet parents, we all want to provide our furry friends with the best possible care, and that includes their diet. If you're looking for a healthy and delicious treat to spoil your pup, then you should definitely try making these Banana Peanut Butter Cookies with Frosting. They are easy to make, contain all-natural ingredients, and are sure to make your dog's tail wag!
Ingredients for Cookies:
2 ripe bananas
1 tablespoon of honey
1/2 cup natural peanut butter
1 egg
3.5 cups of oats
1 cup whole oats
2.5 cup oat flour
Instructions for Cookies:
Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Mash the bananas in a large mixing bowl, then add the honey, peanut butter, and egg. Mix until well combined.
Add the wet mixture to the mixing bowl and combine 1 cup of whole oats and 2 cups of oat flour (leave the 0.5 cups of oat flour for rolling it out).
Mix dry and wet ingredients until combined.
Cover your counter in the 0.5 cups of oat flour and lay your dough out. Then you can roll out the dough using your rolling pin, and cover the rolling pin in oat flour before beginning.
Use your cookie cutters to cut out designs. Place cookies on the cookie sheet with parchment paper.
Bake the cookies for 18-20 minutes, or until they are golden brown and firm to the touch.
Allow the cookies to cool completely before frosting.
Ingredients for Frosting:
2 tablespoons peanut butter
1 tablespoon honey
⅓ cup cornstarch (can also use potato starch or arrowroot powder)
3 tablespoons hot water
Instructions for Frosting:
To make the frosting, combine 2 tablespoons of peanut butter and 1 tablespoon of honey in a microwavable bowl, and heat in the microwave in 15-second increments, stirring in between, until melted.
Add the ⅓ cup cornstarch to the melted peanut butter mixture and stir until just combined.
Slowly add in the water 1 tablespoon at a time until you have reached the consistency that you would like. For a thinner frosting, add more water. I recommend 3 tablespoons!
Add the frosting to a piping bag and pipe designs on top of each dog treat.
Spread a thin layer of frosting onto each cooled cookie, and allow the frosting to set before serving.
These Banana Peanut Butter Cookies with Frosting are not only delicious but also packed with wholesome ingredients that are good for your dog's health. The bananas provide a natural source of vitamins and fibre, while peanut butter is a great source of protein and healthy fats. Oats are also an excellent source of fibre and help to promote good digestive health.
Remember to always give treats in moderation and as part of a balanced diet. Your dog will love these cookies, and you'll love the peace of mind that comes with knowing exactly what's in their treats.
Happy baking!
