My Morning Routine
The perfect morning routine that can help you start your day feeling refreshed and ready to tackle whatever comes your way.
A morning routine can be the key to starting your day off on the right foot. Having a consistent routine can help you feel more focused, motivated, and energized, which can set the tone for the rest of your day.
Once you identify how you want your morning routine to look, I highly suggest reading Atomic Habits to make it happen! It absolutely changed the way I wake up and tackle my day. I feel healthier and happier, and get shit done.
Step 1: Wake up at 6:45 am
One of the most important parts of a morning routine is consistency. Waking up at the same time every day can help regulate your body's circadian rhythm and improve your overall sleep quality. It can also help you feel more alert and energized when you wake up.
Step 2: Wake up Willa and spend a few minutes cuddling on the couch
This one-on-one time together means the world to me. She’s the one who started this habit and it’s just the sweetest thing.
Step 3: Wash my face and brush my teeth
Washing your face helps to remove any dirt, oil, or bacteria that may have accumulated on the skin overnight. This can help to prevent acne and other skin problems. Brushing your teeth helps to remove plaque and bacteria that can lead to tooth decay and gum disease. Combining both of these right away makes me feel clean and fresh for the morning!
Step 4: Make French Press coffee
I grind my beans fresh in the morning and add oat milk for the most perfect coffee every day. *I also add collagen powder to my morning coffee.
Step 5: Drink my coffee while reading my book
I read at least 5 pages every morning alongside sips of warm coffee… perfection. This is my favourite part of the morning. I honestly look forward to this ritual when I go to sleep. I also drink a glass of water and eat a fig bar. This can help rehydrate your body after a long night's sleep, and it can also help kickstart your metabolism.
Step 6: Head out for my morning run with Willa
Willa and I head out for a 30-minute run. Exercising in the morning can help boost your energy levels, improve your mood, and increase your focus throughout the day. Even a short workout like a 10-minute yoga flow or a quick jog around the block can have a big impact.
Once I’m home I check my work laptop to see if anyone needs me, if not a shower, then start my day!
*Goal Step 7: Meditate or practice mindfulness
My goal is to add meditation and yoga to my morning routine, but at this point, there just isn’t enough time in the day.
